Today's projects in Carrying Home Studios.
Got a bunch of supplies at Home Depot... here we go! |
First, I sanded the walls so that the Spackling will stay on. There were a whole bunch of holes (pun intended) in the walls from shelves that were in the room when my parents bought the house. My dad took down the shelves for the exercise machine but never had a need to fill in the holes before this. |
So, we opened the container of Spackling Paste. It looked like strawberry ice cream!!!! (don't worry, I didn't eat it :). The paste starts pink and when it dries it turns white. Very convenient for knowing when it is dry! |
I am filling in some of the holes... |
Filling in a crack along one corner of the wall.. don't the pink spots look cool? |
A close up of what it looked like partially dry. |
The next step was to vacuum the rug so that we could apply the carpet cleaner. Here is a picture of big vacuum and little vacuum :) Big vacuum was used for vacuuming right next to the molding and little vacuum was used for the rest of the room. My dad also did a little vacuuming around the rest of the basement with big vacuum. |
Let's bring it on with Resolve High Traffic carpet cleaner!!! (Kevin at home depot helped us pick out which carpet cleaner was right for us) |
After my dad sprayed the foam on the rug, it dried and you can't even see it anymore. However, we are waiting until tomorrow to vacuum it up (probably with big vacuum) because it's not completely dry yet. |
I used a bucket of water and a sponge (and brought the red rubber gloves back out!) to wipe the carpet cleaner off the molding so that we could prime the molding. |
Red rubber gloves!!! Though they protect my hands, (and do look rather stylish :), they make it much much harder to squeeze a sponge. Such a small thing that we take for granted with our beautiful glove-less hands. |
This is how the corner looked before I primed it. You probably won't be able to see a huge difference because it was already white. |
My portable paint station that moved around the room. |
This is the corner after it was primed. |
The side on the left of this corner is primed and the side on the right is not. You might be able to see the difference better here. |
Tomorrow the plan is to vacuum the cleaner off the floor with big vacuum and sand the walls where we put the spackling. Then all that will be left is to pain the walls, decorate the room, and bring the music stuff downstairs :) Keep checking back - I will be posting updates!
One of these days I will post a little history about my music and Carrying Home Studios. Until then, we will leave this story with... To be continued.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
