King Tut's death

A mystery has remained as to how King Tut died. Was he murdered? If so, why? Was his death a natural cause? Was it a fatal accident?

King Tut could have been murdered out of greed or because of an unstable environment created in Egypt by his father, Akhenaten. Akhenaten believed in only one god, unlike the belief in many gods before his time. He made everyone else believe this also, and historians believe that this created an unstable environment.

One theory of Tut's death is that his advisor, Ay, murdered him to inherit the throne. A crack was discovered on the back of Tut's skull which could be how he was murdered. Evidence that Ay murdered him is that the queen, Ankhesenamun, was later married to Ay, even though on some tablets that she sent to the Hittites she said “Never shall I pick out a servant of mine and make him my husband. I am afraid!”. She could have been talking about Ay. She asked the Hittites to send a man to wed her and the man that was sent was assassinated on the way. Ay could also be to blame for this.

Another theory is that Horemheb, the king's deputy, murdered him. As Tut got older, he became more independent of Horemheb in his decision making. Horemheb did not inherit the throne after Tut died, Ay did, but Horemheb inherited the throne after Ay died. Horemheb restored Egypt to its original beliefs of many gods rather than just one. Some people discharge this theory because Tut may have been working on restoring Egypt to its original beliefs, just like Horemheb wanted to do.

A reason that people believe Tut may have been murdered is the crack in his skull. Some people point out that it could have been made in the mummification process, if his skull had accidentally been dropped.

With new scans it has been revealed that Tut had a broken leg before he died. Whatever caused this injury could have also caused his death. His death may have just been an accident. The injury on his leg could have also caused infection, which may have been fatal.

Some people look at his broken leg and think that he may have fallen from his chariot to his death. This would explain the broken leg and his death at such a young age.

As they put it on www.kingtutone.com, "With... centuries of forgotten facts, one thing is certain—there will continue to be many theories as to how King Tut died." Though we may never know for sure, examining his death and his body help us to learn more about our history.

Taken for granted

What if you lost everything today? Literally everything - your house, your car, your family, your bedroom, everything. You would realize how much you take these things for granted. Would you think it was unfair that you had lost everything? Would you think that you deserved all of those things?

In the Bible it says; "For the wages of sin is death." Do you know what wages are? Wages are what you are given because you did something. When we work, we get paid. That money is our wages; it is what we get because we did the work.

The wages for sin is death. Because we sin, we get death. That is what we deserve. But if you keep reading that Bible verse it says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Do you know what a gift is? A gift is also something that we are given, but unlike wages, we don't have to do anything to get a gift. it is given to us for free.

Even though we get death because we sin, God gives us Eternal Life as a gift. We don't deserve it. He just gives it to us.

God gives us everything we have. He made us. He gave us life. A lot of us take life for granted. We think that we deserve it. We go to bed expecting to wake up the next morning. But really, we don't deserve life, we deserve death because we sin. Every day is not a given right. When we wake up every morning, we should thank God that He is letting us live another day. Instead of waking up and thinking "I deserved to wake up and live today" we need to think "Wow God. Thanks so much for letting me live another day."

It's so easy to take everything for granted. We think we deserve to eat every day. We think we deserve a bed, a bedroom, and a house. But we really only deserve death.

Next time you hear someone say something mean to you, instead of thinking "I deserve to be treated better" think "I'm so glad I have ears that can hear." Next time someone cuts in front of you in traffic, instead of thinking "I deserve to be treated better when I'm driving" think "I'm so glad I have a car that can take me places." Next time your mom or dad makes a meal that you don't like, instead of thinking "I deserve to be able to eat food that I like," think "I'm so thankful that I have food that will nourish my body, and I'm so glad that I don't have to go hungry." When your mom or dad says no when you ask for some dessert, instead of thinking "I deserve dessert," think "I'm so happy my mom and dad are concerned with keeping me healthy."

If you don't take anything for granted, and you realize that we don't deserve anything that we have, it makes life look a lot different. You don't wish that you had the next best video game, you can be glad that you have any. You won't wish that you didn't have as much schoolwork, you can be thankful that there are people who care enough to give you a good education.

When we think of things that we are thankful for, usually things like my house and my family come to mind. What if we thought of more things than just those? How about the ability to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste? How about the fact that you can breathe? How about the fact that you can walk? How about the fact that your family has money to feed you?

It makes life look a lot different if we remember to thank God for EVERYTHING.

FANATIC Lecrae

I'm a F-A-N-A-T-I-C, Fanatic
I rep Christ till I D-I-E, Fanatic
I'm not extreme, I'm redeemed with faith
To serve a God whose extremely great
I'm a Fanatic

(Verse 1)
The world's trying to tidy up, exfoliate they skin
but only Christ can come and exfoliate they sin
And they fate look grim, If they don't take him
As the high priest he is to mediate they sin
The world's got to many Gods, man we choose the one
From hebrews, he rules, he bruised his son
He moves the sun
So if we prayin and our schools call us fools
Cuz our God's too true to shun
Channels two in one
Man it looks insane
TV make a lot Christians seem dramatically strange
Though we may be looked upon as one and same
We will not turn in shame, we proclaim the name
Christ Jesus, believe us, you ain't gotta recieve us
but we gon' follow our God wherever the bible lead us
And you can call us dramatic, fanatic, emphatic
But hate while you at it, take a look at our mathematics

(Hook)

(Verse 2)
What can I do to make it simple, make it plain
Christ came, emptied himself and let out sin hang him
You couldn't blame him for any sin
While they singing many men
The crucifixion was pretty grim
But when we state the fact that God resurrects
We get funny looks from a world that doesn't get
We are not David Koresh or Krishna
Or the people on TV who glorifying their bishop
From Edwards to Piper, MacAurther to Spurgeon
From Dallas to France, From Cali to Berlin

As Christians all over who getting the word in
We ain't crazy we just understand the truth and we burdened
The world sees us as evangelical Christians
As narrow-minded fanatics with a mythical mission
Labeled extremists for sharing out faith
But thats cool, we can carry the weight of persecution
Cuz earth is losing
And if we yelling the truth
We honored to be the people that our God is using
So keep it moving
Cuz if we yelling the truth
We honored to be the people that our God is using

(Hook)

(Verse 3)
They thought Jesus was out of his mind
they laughed and mocked him
Called him a cult leader and they tried to stop him
Pharisees said Christ got his power from Satan
Hatin', on the very one that came to save 'em
Even after he rose, man the world ain't changed
They still rejecting the name, still look at us strange
Still tell us without shame that our faith's insane
and, "it don't take all that to be a Christian man"
And its hard when you tryin to reach your family and stuff
They say man, "you too spiritual, you doing to much"
So we show them the love of Christ and live in the light
So they can glorify our God when they look at our life
And we win for sharing the truth and hearts get changed
We win if we're rejected because of his name
We win if seeds get planted and watered and grow
But even if we lost, we still be Fanatical though

Time for Dye to Die

I am starting to write a book about artificial food dyes. I decided to give you all a little sample of the book. I'm honestly not sure when (or if) it will ever be finished, it is a work in progress.

Chapter One - crayons are not edible

Contrary to popular belief (among very young children), crayons are not edible. As educated non-toddlers, you all probably know that. But let’s take the place of a toddler’s mother right now – why wouldn’t you want your kids to put crayons in their mouths?

If I were a toddler’s mom, I wouldn’t want my child putting crayons in his mouth because I wouldn’t want that dye that colors the crayons in their mouths. After all, it’s a chemical, right?

The dye Yellow 5 or Tartrazine is used to color crayons yellow. Tartrazine is used in nail polishes, hair products, some medicines, and also… food! Think about that – the same yellow dye used in some crayons is the dye used to color some of your favorite snack foods: cotton candy, flavored corn chips, sports drinks, some pickles, and many other foods that are on the average American’s daily diet.

Artificial colors like Tartrazine, Indigotine (Blue), and Allura Red (Red) can be found in more and more foods these days. It might surprise you to find that at Burger King, the pickles that they put on your burger have Yellow and Blue dye in them. Also, a Tropical Mango Gatorade from Pepsi has yellow and red dyes in it.
Before we look at why you would want to eat food with natural coloring, let’s look at why people would be ok with having dyes in their food. On the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website they put it this way “Without color additives, colas wouldn't be brown, margarine wouldn't be yellow and mint ice cream wouldn't be green. Color additives are now recognized as an important part of practically all processed foods we eat.” Think about it – how many kids would get Superman ice cream if it wasn’t blue, red, and yellow? People tend to be drawn to the colorful and bright foods in the grocery aisle.

So why should you eat natural? When you eat something that was made out of natural ingredients, you are eating that food the way God made it. He made it that way so that it would help our bodies in the way He intended. When we change foods, we might be changing the results on our bodies.

Not only that, but dyes can have negative effects on our bodies. In an article called Die, Dye! The effect of food dyes on children’s behavior and thinking on Squidoo, it says "Have you ever heard the phrase 'sugar rush'? This phrase typically applies to the frenetic behavior of an out of control child who is bouncing off the walls after consuming a large quantity of sweets. While sugar certainly can have the effect of 'juicing' a kid's system, the food dyes in that pile of sweets are more likely the primary culprit." Especially in children, dyes can cause hyper-activity and lack of impulse control.

On the website www.red40.com it lists different uses of Red dye. For example, its use in drugs. "In reality, the color has no effect on the effectiveness of the medication, which is why it's listed under inactive ingredients on the label." The color plays no part in the actual drug; it just makes it look more appealing.

So why do people still eat food with artificial dyes? Because they might cost less than natural food, because they look more appealing, or maybe because they just don't know what effects they can have on people. For more information, you can visit the websites below. Everyone deserves to know what they are eating, and as they put it on Squidoo, "It's time for artificial food dyes to die!"

Going into the 11th, still 3-3. I think they need to cut back on the agony, suspense, and intenseness :)
3-3, rangers up, 1 out, tigers make a double play to put us in overtime!

Here's the other Prezi

Check out these Prezis I made!

My friend told me about a cool presentation making website called Prezi. Here are my first attempts...

Can't get the other one to pull up right now... I can post it later

The new law

Let's do some imagining.

A new law has been made. It has all of these parts:

-You shall have no other gods before the One Living God (that means you can't idolize money, celebrities, TV shows, iDevices, or anything else)
-You cannot have any idols
-You shall not use God's name in vain
-You must observe the Sabbath as holy (this means taking time to honor God and spending time worshipping and loving Him)
-You must honor your parents (only speak respectful words to them, obey them in whatever they ask you to do, etc.)
-You can't kill people (and BTW - hating people is just as bad)
-You shall not commit adultery
-You shall not steal (not even just an MP3 file online)
-You shall not lie (not even a really small lie)
-You shall not covet anything (that means wanting something that someone else has)
-You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor

Do you think anyone could live up to this new law? Here's what happens: everyone "breaks the law". They all sin, by doing something that this law forbids. Some people ignore the law altogether, and some try their hardest but just can't make it. Everyone sins.

What happens? Well the Bible, the book that all these laws came from, says that "For the wages of sin is death." Finish the sentence there, and well, everyone on earth has a death sentence.

But if you keep reading it says "The wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord." While everyone is waiting in jail to be sentenced to death, a man walks in. His name is Jesus, and he smiles and says "Hey everyone, I know you all deserve death, but here's the deal. I am God's Son, and I have never sinned, but I am willing to take your punishment."

The devil laughs and says "Hey Jesus, it will cost your life. Your blood. Your tears. Are you sure these humans are worth it? They will just keep sinning. They will turn from you. What's the point of saving them?"

Jesus says, without hesitation, "Because I love them".

He loves us so much that He was willing to die because of our sins. But that's not the end...

Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. He literally died and came back to life. He did it to show that death has no grip on him. Hell has no power over the living God. Because He rose from the dead, we all have the gift of Eternal Life. All we have to do is ask.

But should we just keep sinning? Of course not! We died to sin, we should not live in sin anymore. We are free from our sinful nature.

A great chapter of the Bible to read about this is Romans 8. It says "Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of Life set me free from the law of sin and death." We are free!

I hope you know Jesus as your personal savior. If you do, I would encourage you to spend more time with Him daily. He would love to give you full peace and assurance, if you will only let him.

If you don't know Jesus, I totally encourage you to read the Bible and hear about the message of Salvation. Then pray a prayer something like this:

God,I know I'm a sinner. I know that I do wrong. I say things without thinking, and I do things that hurt people. Please be in my heart and help me to make the right choices. Help me to share your love and be a beacon of light and hope in a dark land. Help the words I say to be the RIGHT words, and help them show love and not anger or hard feelings. Help me to forgive easily and forget the wrong done to me.God, I want to be more like you. You are holy, true, noble, pure, right, good, amazing, and praiseworthy, and I'm not anywhere near your holiness. Help me to learn your ways. Please let your Holy Spirit live in me. I love you.In Jesus' name, amen.

Thanks for reading :) ~Molly

M: Fluffy?

V: I don't know. I just had to think of something

M: Interesting.

V: Very.

M: How fluffy are they?

V: Not very fluffy

M: Would floaty be a better word? Oh sorry, you already used it.

Molly flips the page in the notebook she is recording the conversation in.

V: Did you just crumple up the paper?

M: No, I flipped the page.

V: Oh..... that explains it

V: Yippee tai yay. Yippee tai yay. I don't know, that was odd. Uncalled for.

Valerie begins singing Deck the Halls

M: Don't you think it's a bit early to be singing Deck the Halls?

V: It's a bit early to sing the First Noel too.

M: Our readers won't understand that.

V: You were writing all of this down, weren't you?

Valerie begins singing The First Noel

M: Good bye!

V: What?!?!

M: I'm just saying good bye so I can write it down as part of our conversation.

Mark Twain quotes

It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

Name the greatest of all inventors. Accident.

The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated

What a good thing Adam had. When he said a good thing he knew nobody had said it before.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

GO DETROIT TIGERS!

Vehicles that you can "call"

You know the game "yellow car"? and the game "slugbug"? Well my brother and I have invented some new vehicles that you can call:

If you see a cube car you can call "cube car" and lightly tap someone (I say lightly tap because slapping and punching and hitting are not nice. Please don't injure people when you tap them)

You would call "________ Smart car" with the color in the blank. For example, Yellow smart car. No tapping for this one.

Any Mustang can be called by saying "EMS truck". I know it's odd, don't ask. You can tap for Mustangs.

Guess how you call EMS trucks? "Mustang!" You can tap for EMS trucks.

Gold cars are called by saying "ultimate Jackpot!" You can't tap for these.

Call "Pink Car!" You can tap on pink cars.

Now purple and brown cars have special properties. If you see a purple one, call "Jelly" and if you see a brown car before the clock changes numbers (for example: 4:56 becomes 4:57), you can call Peanut Butter Jelly Sandwich! And tap for it! Yay!

The same goes for brown cars. Just call "Peanut Butter" and if you see a purple car before the clock changes, call "Peanut Butter Jelly Sandwich!" and tap for it.

Here's a confusing one. If you see a JEEP, and a motorcycle before the clock changes numbers, call JEEP! And then go into an explanation of how amazing it is that you say a JEEP and a Motorcycle in the same 60 seconds! Very very rare. Definitely tap for these.

THESE ARE SOME THAT WE DIDN'T MAKE UP. We made up all the rest.

Yellow car is an old favorite. There are two variations: either call Yellow Car or Jackpot. Normally you can tap for these, but we get kind of bored and annoyed by these because they are too common. So now you only occasionally hear Yellow Car or Jackpot.

See an orange car? Call OJ!

I think Slug Bug is another old favorite...

Well, I hope you don't get too bored in the car! Hope this has helped! :)
